Description Nowadays de BroeksterMaar is a beautiful converted farm-house with numerous facilities. Our bed&breakfast is situated at the Broekstermaar, a very quiet stream which was once part of the watercourse of the Hunze river. Many centuries ago, when this landscape still resembled the present Wadden area, these ‘maars’ were the channels between islands and sandbanks.

Rooms and Accommodation De BroeksterMaar offers you two nicely decorated double rooms, each with own bathroom. In the rooms you will find a television (satellite receiver), DVD player, radio alarm/CD-player, a comfortable sitting area and, of course, excellent beds. The rooms join the lounge where your breakfast will be served. This is also an excellent place to read your paper and drink your coffee. Opposite your room you will find your own tasteful bathroom with a shower, toilet, washbasin and hairdryer. You could also choose for our 4 persons luxury apartment De Peerdestal (The Horse stable). The Horse Stable is in fact an extra big hotel room for 2 persons, with an extra sleeping area for another 2 persons and fully equipped kitchen/dining room. It has TV (satellite receiver), DVD-player, VCR and audio equipment.

Meals For the the double rooms, the price is including the rather copious breakfast. If you choose for the Horse Stable, breakfast is not included, but it can be served when ordered with your reservation. Apart from breakfast we donot serve meals, but there are very nice restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Tips for in the region De BroeksterMaar directly leads to canoe and fishing water and the surroundings are perfect for biking and hiking. A hiking trip in the Wadden (mud walking) or renting a canoe or bike? We are happy to arrange this for you. From the harbour of Lauwersoog the ferry leaves for the island of Schiermonnikoog; a daytrip to Schier is a memorable event. Pieterburen, where you will find the seals nursery and the botanical garden Domies Toen (the pastors garden), is at the short distance of ten minutes by bike. The National Park Lauwersmeer is nearby and worthwhile to visit any time of the year. Of course, you’ll have to see the ancient Verhildersum manor in Leens, but our detailed documentation will bring you to dozens of other places of interest in the surroundings.

Rates The price for a double room for two persons is 72,50 euro per night (per room), including breakfast. The price for The Horse Stable for a midweek(mo/fr) or a long weekend (fr/mo) is 225,00 euro. For the obligatory end-cleaning 30,00 euro will be charged and from October 15 until May 1 there is an extra charge for the use of energy of 5,00 euro per day. If you book the Horse Stable for a week (fr/fr), the price will be 375,00 euro, excluding cleaning and energy. Breakfast can be served in your apartment (if ordered when you make your reservation) for 12,50 euro p.p.p.d. Tourist tax is 1,15 euro p.p.p.n.
