When you leave the N60 at the Eke-Nazareth intersection and you cross the bridge over the river Scheldt on the winding road, you arrive at the peaceful river village of Semmerzake. At the end of the road, on the corner, you’ll find a tastily renovated 19th century bourgeois house, witness to the history of a mayor’s family. Through the attractive entry hall, you’ll enter an oasis of calm. De-stressing and just enjoying life in style is easy in lovely Cimbarsaca, where the client is at the centre of all attentions. Cimbarsaca is the perfect starting point for those who want to discover the Flemish Ardennes and its rich past. Many typical villages and their beautiful natural environments are within easy walking or biking distance. Perched above the Scheldt valley, you’ll discover the bucolic village of Semmerzake. Thanks to its strategic location, it has long been a Roman settlement. The famous battle of Gavere, a milestone in the history of Flanders, took place on July 23, 1453, and was fought in the vast farmlands and in the meadows of Semmerzake. Now that peace has come back in this village along the Scheldt, you can really enjoy its calm. By foot, by bike or on a soothing journey on the water - in short, it’s so nice to linger in the Scheldt valley. You can also enjoy the regional beer “Valeir”, and other local products like Breydel ham. The many hiking and biking routes form a perfect starting point to discover the Flemish Ardennes with its varied, steep climbs and picturesque village centres. Oudenaarde and Ghent are exceptional art centres and have a lot to offer to culture-loving tourists. |
